About RecordingToText
Last updated
RecordingToText exists for one job: turning a recording into text you can use, without making you create an account first. Most transcription sites put a login wall, a meeting bot or a video editor between you and your transcript. We put the tool at the top of the page.
How it works
Your browser does the heavy lifting: it decodes your file locally, cuts the speech into short parts at natural pauses and sends only compact audio for transcription. We use state-of-the-art speech recognition models (the Whisper family and similar), and we can switch engines to keep accuracy high and costs low. That's also why the free plan can be generous.
Our principles
- Private by default: audio is deleted right after transcription and free transcripts are never stored.
- Honest limits: free is 3 files a day of up to 30 minutes, shown right in the tool. Premium is 25 hours a month, not a vague "unlimited".
- Check, don't trust blindly: every line has a timestamp so you can replay it. AI makes mistakes, especially with names and numbers.
How we write our guides
Our how-to content is written by the RecordingToText team and reviewed when products or prices change. Comparisons list the date they were checked. If you spot something wrong, please tell us.
